Each month we focus on one of our CTA character traits. In the month of December, we focused on being RESPONSIBLE. Every day our students get the opportunity to demonstrate our character traits and our staff and students can give them character trait cards and place them in our character trait buckets that are in our elementary entrance!! Every week we take the opportunity to recognize our students that we have seen demonstrating the qualities of being a CTA CHARGER!! Each month we draw six students that will get to have a special lunch with our elementary principal Mrs. Mattson @cultivatingcourageouschargers We had a great month at CTA focused on being RESPONSIBLE. During the month of January we are discussing, reflecting, learning and demonstrating the character trait of being GROWTH MINDED!! @ctachargers @cultivatingcourageouschargers @mslaneslearners @soarhighgradefive @funlovingfourthgrade @buildingaloveoflearning @teachermom4life @charterschools #wearechargers #weareworldchangers #caring #hardworking #appreciation #responsibility #growthmindset

The staff, students, and families that fill our buildings are a daily reminder of how strong a school can be as a result of a shared vision, passion, intentionality, and support; every person here, from our staff to our students to our families to our administration, serves as leader for others--not solely in academics but also in personal growth. I take great pride in being a part of CTA through working with our middle school population; it is my honor to work alongside my colleagues and our students every day. CTA Elementary WIN Time: We have strategically organized our schedule in K-5th grade to better support teachers and students so that our intervention time no longer only applies to just our below grade level learners but to ALL students. Hence the title, WIN which stands for “Whatever I Need.” We have arranged our elementary schedules with two 30-minute blocks on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. During this time our grade level teachers, special education teacher, instructional coach, two interventionists and two teacher’s aides all go into classrooms to support small group instruction. Having three staff members in each classroom allows us to support our below grade level learners with the growth instruction that they need, push our on-grade level students and extend the learning of our above grade level students. Our student data is being tracked weekly and we have weekly team meetings with our instructional coach, special education and general education teachers. These meetings allow our staff to dialogue around student data and plan our instructional strategies that will best support all students during our W.I.N. time. To schedule a tour, please contact: Autumn Mattson, Elementary Principal: email@example.com Jennifer Colin, Secondary Principal firstname.lastname@example.org Or call: 616-696-490

Our 4th graders finished up our informational text reading unit with an Escape Room Challenge. They had four rounds of categorizing text into informational, narrative informational, or hybrid informational. After each round of correctly identifying the text, the group got a code card to unlock the chain. The final round of identifying gave them the key to unlock the box to reveal homework passes and gumballs (Their favorites!) They had an absolute blast and worked so hard to "escape the room"!
We're excited about our new app and website!
