Elementary: Mystery Science: meets the Performance Expectations set forth by the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Curriculum is based pedagogical emphasis on solving mysteries, collecting evidence, and conducting investigations makes us uniquely suited to achieving the goals of the NGSS.
Middle School: Designed from the ground up to address the Next Generation Science Standards, Discovery Educations Middle School Science engages students in an action-packed journey to make sense of phenomena in a way that aligns with their natural curiosities. Each unit storyline follows a 3D learning framework, launching with real-world anchor phenomena to hook students and inspire them to ask important questions as they investigate and explain, make predictions, and solve problems. Student Narratives are purposefully integrated to allow students to "see themselves” through authentic conversations around phenomena.

READING
ELEMENTARY/SECONDARY: OAKLAND SCHOOLS LED THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE MAISA ELA COMMON CORE-ALIGNED UNITS OF STUDY THAT WERE PILOTED AND REVIEWED BY TEACHERS STATEWIDE. THIS MULTI-YEAR PROJECT RESULTED IN A COMPREHENSIVE K-12 CURRICULUM THAT IS ALIGNED NOT ONLY TO THE STANDARDS, BUT ALSO ACROSS GRADES. THESE UNITS ARE NOT SCRIPTS BUT ARE GUIDELINES FOR TEACHERS; WE ENCOURAGE EDUCATORS TO ADAPT THEM FOR THEIR POPULATION AND CONTEXT.
WRITING
WriteWell Curriculum (K-12): WriteWell is a carefully sequenced, coherent K–12 writing curriculum designed to meet Michigan writing standards and the Common Core State Standards.
The WriteWell© Curriculum is designed to provide instruction for a Writer's Workshop. A Writing Workshop Model naturally differentiates to meet the needs of all students.

MATH
Elementary: Math Expressions is based on NSF-funded research.
Contextual Learning: Students develop an understanding of mathematics through real-world situations and visual supports.
Multiple Strategies: Students learn multiple ways to solve problems, including algorithms based on reasoning.
Manageable Instruction: Teaching materials were designed to embody a "learn-while-teaching" style.

Middle School: Illustrative Mathematics is a problem-based curriculum that makes rigorous high school mathematics accessible to all learners.
Teachers help students understand the problems, ask questions to push their thinking and orchestrate discussions to be sure that the mathematical takeaways are clear.
Students frequently collaborate with their classmates—they talk about math, listen to each other’s ideas, justify their thinking, and critique the reasoning of others. They gain experience communicating their ideas both verbally and in writing, developing skills that will serve them well throughout their lives.

K-8th: Teachers’ Curriculum Institute is a publishing company that creates science and social studies curriculum to enable educators to improve their ability to engage students in a diverse classroom. Their curriculum and services for educators are based on proven teaching strategies and practices that bring education to life in order to achieve consistent and positive classroom results.Their programs teach students about the world around them and how our cultures were created through interesting and engaging activities and lessons.
9-12th: Oakland Schools has developed a model curriculum, known as MAISA, with instructional materials aligned to Michigan standards for social studies and content literacy. These online materials are grounded in research and delineate best practices in social studies education.
