Real World Experience

At Creative Technologies Academy, education goes beyond textbooks and tests. Our goal is to prepare students not only for graduation — but for life.

Throughout February, CTA students are engaging in meaningful experiences that build leadership, responsibility, and real-world skills.

From community partnerships to career-focused learning, these opportunities help students see how their education connects to the world around them.

Learning Through Real-World Experiences

This month, students are participating in field trips that expand learning beyond the classroom.

North Kent Connect

Through this experience, students gain insight into how organizations serve families and strengthen communities. They see firsthand how compassion, leadership, and service can create lasting impact.

Recycling & Environmental Responsibility

On Friday, February 13, Mrs. Putney and Ms. Fues took our 9th and 10th grade students to the Recycling Center to learn more about sustainability, environmental responsibility, and how everyday actions make a real-world impact. These lessons reinforce the importance of stewardship and thoughtful decision-making in everyday life.

Building Leaders Through Peer Mentoring

CTA’s Peer Mentor Activity brings high school students together with fourth graders in a meaningful leadership experience.

As mentors, high school students practice communication, accountability, and encouragement. They serve as role models while building confidence in their own leadership abilities.

For younger students, this connection fosters belonging and support within the larger school community.

Programs like this help students understand that leadership is not about titles — it is about influence, integrity, and example.

Celebrating Career & Technical Education Month

February is also Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, and CTA is proud to highlight students participating in the Kent Career Technical Center (KCTC) program.

  • SIlas Phipps - Career Focus

  • Caleb Elliott - Mechatronics

  • Sam Cassidy - Auto Tech

  • Kaylee Leys - Graphic Design

  • Dylan Hunt - Digital Animation and Game Programming

  • Zander Spielmaker - Networking & Cybersecurity

  • Owen Carroll - Networking & Cybersecurity

  • Jax Stebleton - Precision Machining

  • Magan Davidson - Graphic Design

These programs provide hands-on, career-focused learning that prepares students for college, skilled trades, or direct entry into the workforce.

By combining academic coursework with practical experience, students develop valuable skills including:

  • Technical expertise

  • Time management

  • Professional communication

  • Problem-solving

  • Industry awareness

KCTC participation allows students to explore passions early and graduate with a clearer vision for their future.

A School Focused on the Whole Student

At CTA, preparing students for the future means nurturing academic excellence, leadership development, community awareness, and career readiness.

Whether students are serving as peer mentors, visiting local organizations, or gaining hands-on experience through KCTC, they are building the skills and confidence needed to succeed beyond high school.
